The 2026/27 Serie A season officially kicks off this weekend as defending champions Inter look to get their campaign off to a winning start.
Inter were crowned champions after finishing with 87 points, nine more than second place Napoli. Roma and Como rounded up the top four spots.
The Nerazzuri also lifted the Coppa Italia and now head coach Christian Chivu has the difficult task to maintain their status despite making numerous changes to their squad.
Last season’s major surprise outfit was Como, who finished in their highest ever position and qualified for the Champions League for the first time in their history under the tutelage of Cesc Fabregas.

With all teams in action over the course of the weekend, we have a look at some of the top games lined up and offer our predicted outcome.
Inter vs Monza – Saturday, 7:30PM – San Siro
The hosts are the standout favourites here, and their home fixture against promoted Monza immediately gives Chivu’s side a chance to make a statement.
Monza, who are one of the teams making a return to Serie A, have only ever beaten Inter once in a 1-0 Serie A victory in 2023.
Inter are unbeaten in their last 19 matches leading up to this game, coming off a 1-0 win against Betis in their final pre-season friendly.
With both Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram available for the home team, they are expected to score at least two goals in the game.

Monza are unbeaten in their last three games, and with Inter managing just once clean sheet in their last six games – both teams scoring provides another interesting betting option.

Udinese vs Como – Saturday, 7:30PM – Bluenergy Stadium
Como are perhaps the most fascinating team outside Serie A’s traditional elite, and their first game is an away trip to Udinese.
Cesc Fàbregas’ side have continued their rapid development and are preparing for their Champions League debut, after a fourth-place finish last season.
Their opening fixture against Udinese represents an excellent opportunity to begin the campaign strongly.

Udinese come into the game on the back of a three-match winning streak, while Como are without a win in as many matches. The last game between these two sides resulted in a barren draw.
Despite the home advantage, Udinese will not have it easy against a side who they have not beaten in the last three times of asking.

Genoa vs Napoli – Saturday, 9:45PM – Stadio Luigi Ferraris
Napoli enter the season under Massimiliano Allegri, making this one of the most intriguing managerial appointments in Serie A.
Allegri’s arrival should bring greater tactical discipline, but Napoli have also undergone attacking changes with Romelu Lukaku leaving the club.
The champions from two seasons ago are trying to rediscover their consistency after a turbulent period, and this is not an easy match to begin with.
Genoa lost both matches to Napoli last season, with both matches producing over 2.5 goals – including a thrilling 3-2 away win in February.
Genoa have settled for a point in two of their last five head-to-head matches against Napoli, with that being the best result in recent seasons.

Atalanta vs Sassuolo – Sunday, 9:45PM – New Balance Arena
Atalanta enter a new era under Maurizio Sarri, following the end of Gian Piero Gasperini’s long tenure – with this being one of the biggest tactical changes in Italian football this season.
They begin the season with a revenge quest against a Sassuolo side who completed the league double over them last season.

Sassuolo beat Atalanta 3-1 away from home, before securing a 2-1 victory in the reverse fixture. This was their first league double over their opponents in three decades.
The hosts are seeking a third consecutive win here, while the visiting Sassuolo have only managed one win in their last five matches – a 3-0 Coppa Italia victory against Cesena in their most recent outing last week.
This fixture is known to produce goals and we can count on the same being a reality here.

Torino vs AC Milan – Saturday, 9:45PM – Stadio Olimpico di Torino
Milan begin the new campaign away to Torino, with Ruben Amorim taking charge during a period of significant change at San Siro.
The Rossoneri have recruited aggressively but the biggest question is whether Amorim can quickly impose his tactical ideas on the squad.

Playing at home against a Milan team still adapting to a new manager could make this considerably more difficult for the visitors.
There were 10 goals scored in both legs of this fixture last season, with Milan coming out 3-2 winners on both occasions.
Milan have had a tough pre-season, winning just once in their last five matches, while Torino have won four consecutive matches in preparation for this heavyweight clash.
