SportPesa League champions Gor Mahia have officially submitted a 29-player squad for the first preliminary round of the 2026/27 CAF Champions League, SportPesa News understands.
By the registration deadline on August 15, K’Ogalo managed to include their latest acquisition, Portiphar Odhiambo, who squeezed in just hours before the midnight cutoff to complete the roster from Kakamega Homeboyz.
Coach Charles Akonnor has integrated ten other new signings recruited during the mid-season window into his plans.
Midfield sees the arrival of Lesley Otieno and Enock Machaka from Nairobi United, while Daniel Sakari and David Okoth reinforce the squad after signing from Kenya Police.

The goalkeeping department features fresh options in Humphrey Katasi ,who was signed from rivals AFC Leopards and Michael Onyango from Equity FC.
In the final third, Gor Mahia secured the services of last season’s SportPesa League Golden Boot runner-up Paul Okoth, joined by striker Hansel Ochieng’ from APS Bomet.
Foreign additions Denis Omedi from Kitara and Ghanaian defender Ebenezer Ocran complete the list of incomings.

Of the 29-player list, six are foreign imports, headlined by a Ghanaian quartet of Ebenezer Ocran, George Amonoo, Ebenezer Adu-Kwaw, and Ebenezer Assifuah, Cameroonian forward Patrick Essombe, and Ugandan striker Denis Omedi.
In the CAF Champions League draw, Gor Mahia have been drawn against Egyptian giants and 2025 CAF Champions League winners Pyramids FC in the 1st Preliminary Round clash.
The winner of this two-legged tie will advance to face either El Merreikh Bentiu of South Sudan or Heegan FC of Somalia in the second round, with the ultimate aggregate winner qualifying for the group stage.
