With the evolution of football betting, there are plenty of exciting markets to explore rather than the customary match result options.
Modern sportsbooks offer dozens of different markets that a gamer can choose from – further spicing up their options depending on the particular market one settles on.
This article picks three particular markets that are becoming more popular in all different football leagues globally, and we explain the advantages of choosing such options.
One of the biggest attractions to these markets is they allow players to analyze how a match will be played and key features in it, rather than simply selecting a final winner.
Each of them require a different type of analysis, which we will list here as you explore them as betting options.

Total Corners (over or under)
When a particular game proves difficult to choose either a winner or the number of goals that will be scored, corners provide an exciting angle to explore.
The corner option provides an option to place a bet on whether a game will have over or under a set number provided by the platform.
For example, if you place a bet on over 8.5 corners, this means that the game should produce a minimum of 9 corners for you to have a winning bet.
This can be decided by how different teams attack throughout a football match. If one team is known to attack more fluidly down the flanks, this could potentially mean they can get more corners in a game.
Other corner markers also include corner handicaps or which of the two teams will win the corner count.
If Arsenal are taking on Manchester City in an English Premier League match encounter at the Emirates, your bet could be for the hosts to win the corner count at the end of the 90 minutes.
However, the over/under options mostly provide better odds and is a much easier selection rather than a particular side winning the count.

There are different statistics one can look out for before selecting the corner count of a particular match.
Factors such as playing style, previous corner numbers in recent fixtures and tactical changes provide a more detailed and informed basis on the betting option.

Cards
The most common option here is the total cards market. This is won by predicting whether the match will produce more or fewer cards than the bookmakers line.
For example, over 5.5 cards – this would require the game to produce at least five bookings in the game.
There are different factors that can influence the total number of cards in a game, which should be carefully considered before placing a wager.
Different player characteristics, derby matches, playing style, defensive workload based on what’s on the line in the match as well as the referee can directly affect the number of cards produced in a single game.

Depending on the fixture, there are also options provided of which team will be shown the first card, will there be a red card or which side will accumulate the most cards in the game.

Both teams to score / GG
This is one of the simplest and most straightforward football betting markets. It generally means that both teams in the game will score a goal at least.
If you select BTTS/GG – Yes, both teams must score.

If you select BTTS/GG – No, there should be no goals in the game or at least only one team should score a goal.
The beauty of the BTTS/GG option is that the final score does not matter at all. Whether a match finishes 2-1, 1-1 or 5-1, the ‘Yes’ option wins regardless of the result.
This also makes it slightly easier to choose this option with certain factors influencing the decision.
Both teams scoring and conceding regularly in previous fixtures, home and away form, in-form attacking players and tactical approaches being the major factors to consider before placing a bet on this market.
