- Brad Binder finished eighth at the British Grand Prix on Sunday, August 9.
- The South African pulled off a solid ride in Sunday’s main race after starting from 18th place.
- Binder heads to the Aragon GP still 13th in the premier-class championship with 72 points.
Brad Binder started the second leg of the 2026 MotoGP season on a high note, picking up an eighth-place finish as the season resumed at the Silverstone layout for a hot and sunny British Grand Prix.
The South African managed to pull off a solid race on Sunday in the main event, where he had started in 18th place following a challenging Friday qualifying session, climbing ten spots and setting the tone for the second half of his season.
In Saturday’s sprint race, Binder crossed the line in 11th. But come Sunday’s Grand Prix, the seasoned veteran launched brilliantly off the line and, within a handful of corners, had already muscled his way into 12th and the points-paying places.

After squeezing past Gresini stand-in Iker Lecuona, he was already up to 11th. Following a brief battle with Yamaha rider Jack Miller, which Binder won, he overtook Fabio Quartararo. Binder then spent a long spell running in 10th place.
Following Ai Ogura’s (Trackhouse Aprilia) retirement midway through the race, he moved up to ninth. On lap 12, he overtook VR46 rider Franco Morbidelli.
After that, he was unable to make any further progress, with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider, ventually crossing the finish line in eighth place.
“My weekend started to improve from Saturday afternoon onwards. I felt much better in the sprint, even on used tyres. In the main race, I knew I had to be clever not to wear out my rear tyre. Perhaps I was a bit too cautious, because in the end I still had plenty of grip,” mused the 30-year-old.
“I’m happier than usual because the bike felt a bit better. I was able to push harder; it worked well. The last two weekends have been a bit better. We’re making progress. We need to keep it up.”

Binder heads to Aragon in three weeks’ time still in 13th place in the premier-class championship on 72 points.
He is now just 14 points outside the top 10 and will be looking to sign off on a high before his reported move to the BMW factory team in the World Superbike Championship in 2027.
Meanwhile, Raul Fernandez stormed to victory at Silverstone. Jorge Martin (240 points) extended his lead at the top over team-mate Marco Bezzecchi (209), as the two factory Aprilia riders rounded out the podium on Sunday.
Fernandez’s Trackhouse Aprilia team-mate Ai Ogura, who failed to finish, is next on 203 points, followed by Marc Marquez (200), Fabio Di Giannantonio (199) and Fernandez (184).
