Torpedo Kutaisi vs Zira

This week’s Midweek Jackpot kicks off with Torpedo Kutaisi taking on Azerbaijan’s Zira FK in the second leg of the UEFA Conference League first qualifying round.

The decisive encounter kicks off on Thursday at 7pm EAT at Ramaz Shengelia Arena in Kutaisi, Georgia, where the hosts must overturn a heavy deficit.

Zira heads into the fixture with a commanding 3-0 aggregate lead after a dominant display in the first leg on July 8.

Goals from Davit Volkovi and a brace from Ruan Renato have left Torpedo Kutaisi with no option but to attack from the opening whistle.

While Torpedo is notoriously difficult to beat at home, their defensive frailties could be exposed by a disciplined Zira side looking to protect its advantage and strike on the counter.

The aggregate winner will secure a place in the next qualifying round.

Víkingur Gota vs Stjarnan

On the same day, Víkingur Gota will host Iceland’s Stjarnan in an exciting all-Nordic clash in the second leg of the UEFA Conference League first qualifying round, from 8pm EAT.

Due to stadium constraints, the high-stakes encounter will be played at Djipumyra Stadium in Klaksvik, Faroe Islands, instead of Víkingur’s usual home ground.

A place in the second qualifying round awaits the aggregate winner.

The hosts face an uphill battle after suffering a 3-1 defeat in the first leg in Iceland on July 9.

Although Aron Benjaminsen handed the Faroese side an early lead, a brilliant hat-trick from Stjarnan’s Emil Atlason completely swung the tie in the visitors’ favour.

Known for their high-scoring matches, Vikingur Gota has no choice but to push forward from the outset.

However, they must remain defensively disciplined, as Stjarnan is well equipped to exploit any gaps on the counter-attack.
