The battle for top spot in Group G at the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup heats up as England and Ghana prepare to square off on Tuesday night in Massachusetts.

The Three Lions are currently atop the standings with three points after a thrilling 4-2 victory over Croatia. Harry Kane scored a brace to equal Gary Lineker’s record for the most World Cup goals by an English player.

Marcus Rashford and Jude Bellingham were also on target for Thomas Tuchel’s side, as they keep at their quest for a first World Cup title since 1966.

Ghana had to wait until the 95th minute to beat Panama 1-0 courtesy of a Caleb Yirenkyi effort. This is their fourth appearance at the World Cup and they are looking to replicate their quarterfinal appearance in the 2010 edition.

The Black Stars were eliminated in Group stage in 2014 and most recently in 2022, while England were knocked out in the quarterfinals as they lost 2-1 to France.

Both nations are favorites to make it out of the Group stage, with more pressure falling on the England shoulders to better their recent performances at the global showpiece.

Which of these sides will make it two successive wins here to book their place in the knockout round? Here we have a look at both sides ahead of the crucial tie and offer our predicted outcome.

England vs Ghana prediction

Both sides possess enough attacking quality to get a goal in this match and this is a very likely outcome in the game. The Three Lions are on a better run of form and that odds favor them to edge the contest and come out on top.

However, Ghana should not be written off and their momentum from their opening day win may make them a difficult nut to crack for England.
