There are only three matches lined up in the SportPesa League round 30 matches over the weekend, with most of the action coming from the relegation end of the table.
The majority of round 30 fixtures will be played in midweek due to Football Kenya Federation Cup quarterfinals being played over the weekend.
Gor Mahia have a prime opportunity to stretch their lead at the top to nine points with four games left to play. K’Ogalo seem destined to win a record extending 22nd league title.
They travel to Kakamega Homeboyz who are in fourth place with 47 points, with a chance to hop back into the top three.
Most of the action will be from the bottom half of the table as relegation-threatened Sofapaka, Bidco United and Kariobangi Sharks all in action. These three sides currently occupy the bottom three spots.

We have a look at the matches slated for the weekend and offer our predicted outcome.

Sofapaka vs Mathare – Saturday, 3PM – Kasarani Annex
Sofapaka come into the game with the worst record in the Kenyan league. They are without a win in their last 21 games and have not managed to score even a goal in their last six outings.
Batoto Ba Mungu are in last place with 17 points and defeat here would confirm their relegation to the National Super League next season. The 2009 league winners are beyond desperate to register a positive result.

They face a 12th place Mathare side who have 34 points from 29 matches. The slum boys are coming off a 2-1 defeat to Nairobi United and are hoping to bounce back here.
Mathare have not lost to Sofapaka since 2023 and were 1-0 winners when these sides met in the reverse fixture earlier in the season. With the run of form that the hosts are in, Mathare are not expected to lose here.

Bidco United vs Kariobangi Sharks – Sunday, 2PM – Wang’uru Stadium
The two other teams fighting to survive relegation will battle it out on Sunday afternoon. Bidco are second from bottom with 23 points, six behind their opponents.
Sharks are a place above them with 29, knowing that they must avoid defeat if they are to survive the embarrassing drop to the second tier of Kenyan football. Steve Mbulere was on target as Sharks fought to edge Murang’a 1-0 in their last outing.
The victory remains their only one in their last six matches, while Bidco are without a win in as many games.
Sharks have won twice in the last five head-to-head matches between these two sides, with another two resulting in a stalemate. Bidco’s only ever win against William Muluya’s charges came in a 1-0 SportPesa League win in 2024.
We don’t expect a high-scoring game judging by previous encounters, with only three of the 11 games played producing more than 2.5 goals.
Prediction – Under 2.5 goals

Kakamega Homeboyz vs Gor Mahia – Sunday, 3PM – Mumias Complex
Homeboyz are without a win in four games and will need to be at their best against title hopefuls Gor on Sunday. Victory here for the hosts would see them hop back into the top three at least until Police take to the field next Wednesday.
Homeboyz last outing resulted in a 1-1 draw against KCB, while league leaders Gor edged eternal rivals AFC Leopards 1-0 courtesy of an Alpha Onyango goal in the 83rd minute.
Gor maintain a six-point gap at the SportPesa League summit and a win here would make their record title dream more of a reality with four games left to play. Gor have not lost to Homeboyz since 2023 and were 1-0 winners in the reverse fixture last December.

However, the last two games Gor has played away at Homeboyz have not yielded all three points, both resulting in draws. The visitors have lost just one of their last 24 away games and are favorites coming into this match.
Prediction – Both teams to score
