The Los Angeles Lakers will be looking to wrap up their Western Conference first-round playoff series when they host the Houston Rockets in Game 5 on Thursday morning at the Crypto.com Arena in L.A.

But it won’t be that straightforward for the Lakers, as the Rockets are trying to revitalize themselves with a comeback after snatching Game 4 on Monday, where they managed to make the series 3-1 following a 115-96 victory.

In that clash, Amen Thompson dropped 23 points for the Rockets, while Tari Eason added 20 and Alperen Sengun contributed 19. DeAndre Ayton racked up 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Lakers, with Rui Hachimura recording 13 points and LeBron James chipping in 10.

Overall, this has been a tightly contested and relatively low-scoring series. In the first two games, Houston failed to reach the 100-point mark, and even in Game three, the tempo remained controlled despite the extra period-only for them to hit triple digits at home in Game Four.

To get past the Los Angeles Lakers, the Rockets need to win their next three games and become the first NBA team ever to claw back from a 3-0 deficit and advance.

The Lakers could get a major boost to their rotation, as Austin Reaves is once again listed as questionable with a Grade 2 oblique injury.

While Reaves’ return would be huge, Luka Doncic continues to remain sidelined with a hamstring issue.

As for the Rockets, Kevin Durant remains a game-time decision due to an ankle injury, while Fred VanVleet and Steven Adams are still out with long-term ailments.

Houston comes into this match up needing nothing less than a road win to force Game Six at home, so they enter as the favorite to pick the victory and could make history as the first squad to rally from 3-0 and advance to the second round.

But the Lakers, playing at home, cannot afford any slips. They will throw everything they have at finishing the job early, with Oklahoma City Thunder waiting for them in the next round.
