Kenyan striker Moses Shumah continued his impressive scoring run in Zambia, once again finding the back of the net to guide Power Dynamos F.C. into the semi-finals of the ABSA Cup following a 2-0 victory over Nchanga Rangers F.C..
The quarter-final clash, played in Lusaka, saw Power Dynamos deliver a composed and disciplined performance against their Copperbelt rivals. Coming into the match in strong form, the team wasted no time asserting themselves, with Shumah once again proving to be the difference.
The in-form forward opened the scoring in the 14th minute, calmly slotting home after latching onto a well-weighted lofted pass from Fredrick Mulambia. His early goal settled Power Dynamos and gave them control of the match.

Shumah nearly turned provider shortly after, delivering a teasing cross into the box that caused problems for the Rangers defence. However, goalkeeper Victor Chabu reacted quickly, producing a brilliant double save to deny Mulambia and keep the deficit at one.
Nchanga Rangers came back with renewed energy in the second half, pushing forward in search of an equaliser. Davie Zulu, Elliot Kampukesa, and Wesley Sichande all tested the Power Dynamos defence, but goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga stood firm, making crucial saves to preserve his side’s lead and register yet another clean sheet.
Head coach Osward Mutapa showed tactical awareness as the game progressed, making key substitutions to maintain control and inject fresh energy into the side.
Players such as Chifundo Mphasi, Linos Makwaza Jr., Ishmael Ankobo, Evans Ogbonda, and Salulani Phiri were introduced, while key figures including Shumah were rested as Power Dynamos managed the game professionally.
The win was sealed in the 75th minute when Dominic Chanda finished off a well-worked move from Prince Mumba to double the lead. Chanda’s solid display at the back and his goal earned him the SuperSport Man of the Match award.
Power Dynamos once again showed their composure and discipline, qualities that have defined their campaign so far. Speaking after the match, assistant coach Linos Makwaza Sr. praised the team’s approach.
“We knew Nchanga Rangers would be very tactical, and we planned to contain them in the first half. We managed to create chances and score the goals that gave us the much-needed win,” he said.
With a place in the semi-finals secured, Power Dynamos now turn their attention back to league duties, where they are set to face Nkwazi F.C. on April 22.
