After a brief break over the weekend, La Liga resumes in midweek with plenty of action lined up in round 32 in the Spanish top flight.

Barcelona maintain a healthy nine-point gap at the top of the table with 79 points, as they strive to win a 29th La Liga title. Real Madrid and Villarreal compete the top three places.

With just seven games left in the 2025/26 season, the battle to avoid relegation is also heating up. Elche, Levante and Oviedo are currently the bottom three sides in the division.

Both Barcelona and Real Madrid have home matches in midweek, with the Galacticos out to maintain their pace behind the league leaders.

We have a look at the top games scheduled for midweek and offer our predicted outcome.

Real Madrid vs Alaves – Tuesday, 10:30PM

The record La Liga winners are without a win in their last four matches in all competitions. Their worst record this year as they look to turn their fortunes around here.

After exiting the Champions League via a 6-4 aggregate defeat to Bayern, Madrid are at risk of going winless in five matches for the first time this season.

They face a 17th place Alaves side with 33 points, one above the drop zone. Alaves are unbeaten in their last four games – scoring 10 goals in that run.

Real have won the last eight straight matches they have played against Alaves and are tipped as favorites to win here.

Elche vs Atletico Madrid – Wednesday, 8PM

The hosts come into the game in 18th place with 32 points, desperate to avoid defeat and climb out of the relegation zone. Elche have lost their last three consecutive games.

They host a fourth place Atletico who will remain in that position no matter the result here. Diego Simeone’s side are coming from a 4-2 penalties loss to Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey final last Saturday.

Despite qualifying for the Champions League semis after eliminating rivals Barcelona, the visiting Atletico have lost four of their last five games.

The reverse fixture resulted in a 1-1 stalemate at the Wanda Metropolitano last August.

Barcelona vs Celta Vigo – Wednesday, 10:30PM

The Liga leaders are on the hunt for a third consecutive win when they host sixth place Celta Vigo. Barca demolished Espanyol 4-1 before beating Atletico 2-1 in the Champions League.

The visitors on the other hand can leap into the top five with a positive result here. However, Celta Vigo have won once and lost four of their last five matches in all competitions.

Barca have been dominant over their opponents in their recent five head-to-head matches, winning four times and sharing the spoils in a 2-2 draw in 2024.

The hosts have lost just one home game in their last 21 and are expected to win here.

Oviedo vs Villarreal – Thursday, 10:30PM

Oviedo remain rooted to the bottom of the table with 27 points, with time running out to pull off a successful survival campaign. They have come alive in recent weeks, winning three of their last five games and losing just once.

Their most recent match was a remarkable 3-0 away victory at Celta Vigo, giving them realistic hopes of survival.

They face a third place Villarreal side who are all but guaranteed a place in Europe next season. The yellow submarine have lost once in their last five games and are looking to make it two straight wins after a 2-1 away victory at Athletic Bilbao.

Villarreal have beaten them three times in their last five head-to-head matches, but have never lost to Oviedo in their history.

With the relegation battle heating up and their recent run of form, Oviedo are expected to put up a fight here.
