Harambee Stars were defeated in the semifinals of the 2026 FIFA Series Cup in post-match penalties after a 1-1 draw at full-time against Estonia at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda on Friday evening.
Despite a dominant second-half display and several clinical chances to win the game in regulation time, Kenya fell 5-4 in the shootout, ending their hopes of reaching the final of the four-nation tournament.
The decisive moment was the sixth penalty by Richard Odada who attempted a panenka but missed failing to equal the Blueshirts five converted penalties.

Harambee Stars made several enforced changes to the side, with Abud Omar taking the captain’s armband in the absence of Michael Olunga.
In central defense, Frank Odhiambo,making his first senior national team start partnered Alphonce Omija while Manzur Okwaro and another debutant Zech Obiero were handed starts in a refreshed midfield. Estonia, led by Jürgen Henn, fielded a competitive side captained by Karol Mets.

The Blueshirts were the first to approach the opposition box, Sappinen attempt to shoot on his right foot went over the crossbar.
Fifteen minutes later their pursuit would be rewarded from a corner, Kevor Palumets delivered a corner on his left foot that was met by the oncoming Tanel Tammik with the defender heading home for the opener.
The Harambee Stars were however dealt a huge blow as winger Job Ochieng’,who looked like the bright spark in the team had to be withdrawn with injury with Ben Stanley taking his place.

Kenya tried to fight back and almost got the equalizer on the stroke of halftime,Ryan Ogam unleashed a powerful shot from distance that troubled Vallner with the goalkeeper spilling the ball.
The second half started off with the Benny McCarthy coached side pushing for the equalizer in the 51st minute,their efforts would pay dividends as debutant Zech Obiero received the ball on the half turn before threading a wonderful weighted ball to Ryan Ogam who wasted no time looping the ball over oncoming Estonia goalkeeper Karl Andre.
Obiero would then try his luck from distance at the hour mark wrong footing his marker before firing a shot that went just wide.
Estonia responded almost immediately from Sappinen with his shot from outside the area missing the post by inches.
The Kenyan Head Coach proceeded to make a triple substitution introducing Austin Odhiambo, Lawrence Okoth, and Chrispine Erambo for William Lenkupae, Zech Obiero and Abud Omar with Manzur now moved to the left back position.
Okoth would get a glorious chance to give Kenya the lead in the 83rd minute but missed from close range with his shot going just wide the woodwork with the match proceeding to post match penalties.
Kenya’s penalties were scored by Austin Odhiambo, Crispine Erambo, Ben Stanley Omondi and Lawrence Okoth while Mohammed Bajaber had his saved as Odada skived the ball over the crossbar.
