Why Tusker FC midfielder Erambo is delighted with his Harambee Stars call-up

Tusker FC midfielder Chris Erambo says his recent call-up to the Harambee Stars squad has given him fresh motivation as he looks to finish the season strongly with the brewers.

Erambo has been named in the Harambee Stars squad by head coach Benni McCarthy for the upcoming FIFA Series friendly matches set to take place in Kigali, marking an important personal milestone for the combative midfielder after a difficult campaign.

The former Mombasa Elite Fc midfielder endured a frustrating start to the season after suffering an ankle injury during the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in August that was co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, an injury that sidelined him for a significant portion of the first leg of the campaign. His absence meant he missed several crucial matches as Tusker battled through a demanding schedule.

However, after months of rehabilitation and hard work behind the scenes, Erambo has gradually worked his way back into the squad. With the second leg of the season underway, the midfielder has started to accumulate more minutes on the pitch a development that has ultimately earned him a return to the national team setup.

Speaking to Tusker FC’s media team, the midfielder admitted that the call-up came at the perfect time and has injected new belief into his season.

“It is a massive motivation for me and a reward for the hard work I have been putting in behind the scenes. It gives me a huge boost to keep working and to get back to my best form. It has been a really long and tough journey to recover and get minutes, and this has really helped,” Erambo said.

The midfielder further reflected on the difficult recovery period, noting that patience and determination played a key role in helping him overcome the setback.

“It has been a long journey recovering from injury and getting here. I want to thank my teammates for pushing me and giving me the motivation I needed to keep working and come back stronger. These are the kinds of challenges that come with the life of a footballer, but I kept working knowing that I had the ability to recover and return stronger. All the extra sessions I put in have paid off,” he added.

Now fully focused on the remaining fixtures of the season, Erambo hopes his improved fitness and renewed confidence can help Tusker push for a strong finish both in the league and in domestic cup competitions.

With the FKF Cup still within reach for the Brewers and the SportPesa League entering a decisive phase, the midfielder believes the Brewers still have plenty to fight for.

For Erambo, the national team call-up is not just recognition of his resilience but also a signal that his season is beginning to gather momentum again.

Harambee Stars has been drawn in a competitive group alongside European side Estonia, Caribbean nation Grenada and regional rivals Rwanda.

The team is expected to report to residential camp on March 22 before departing for Rwanda two days later.
