A dream debut for Congolese striker Mambote Batshi Assis and a clinical second-half finish from Brian Michira propelled Shabana FC to a dominant 2-0 victory over Posta Rangers at Wang’uru Stadium on Saturday.
The result marks a historic first top-flight league win at the Kirinyaga facility, as Tore Bobe solidified their status as genuine title contenders while deepening the crisis for the Mailmen.
The deadlock was broken by the man of the moment, Assis Mambote. Making his much-anticipated league debut, the towering forward showcased his goal poaching instincts latching onto a loose ball after Keith Imbali’s shot was saved by Peter Odhiambo.

Shabana toss aside Posta Rangers in Kirinyaga
Posta Rangers attempted to fight back early in the second half, but their momentum was ruthlessly extinguished by Brian Michira who unleashed a shot deflected by former Shabana man Dimpol Omamo into his own net.
With this 2-0 triumph, Shabana climbs to 3rd place with 34 points and firmly into the title charge conversation.
Posta Rangers drop to 12th following other results, extending their winless run to eight matches.

Elsewhere,Mathare United produced a wonderful second-half performance to overturn a goal deficit and defeat Tusker FC 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The victory at the Police Sacco Stadium serves as a massive statement for the Slum Boys who effectively derailed Tusker’s hopes of closing the gap on the league leaders.
The brewers started off brightly with Eric Kapaito breaking the deadlock in the 39th minute before Dennis Okoth turned the tides in the second half with the leveller before Isaac Omweri gave the slum boys the lead and Okoth made it game over with his brace.
The result is a significant blow to Tusker FC, who remain stuck on 28 points, missing the chance to go fourth had they won the match
Conversely, Mathare United moves up to 25 points, pulling further away from the relegation scrap and moving into the mid-table now placed at 10th.
