A frantic finish at the Police Sacco Stadium saw Kenya Police FC and Bidco United share the spoils in a 1-1 draw on Monday evening, after two goals in the final ten minutes of regulation time.

Substitute Victor Kunyili thought he had secured a historic upset for the relegation-threatened Oilmen with an 88th-minute strike, only for Police FC’s mid season signing Yves Koutiama to spare the hosts the shame with an equalizer with sixty seconds left in regular time.

Kenya Police FC went into the match on a poor run of form, having secured victory in just one of their last eight matches and were looking to bounce back from a loss in their last match against Bandari. For Bidco, they were on a thirteen match streak without a win.

The hosts made four changes to the squad that lost last time out against Bandari. Abud Omar, Nana Asante, Emmanuel Erupe and Alvin Otieno replaced David Ochieng’, Charles Ouma, David Okoth and Hernest Malonga.

For Anthony Akhulia’s Bidco only one change was made Herman Ngala rested for Steve Okola.

The Law Enforcers had the first real chance in the seventh minute when skipper Aboud Omar hit a precise free kick into on target but was thwarted by Issa Emuria.

Koutiama would then miss a glorious chance in the 10th minute when he was put through on goal by Brian Chonjo but with only the goalkeeper to beat, Issa Emuria pulled a last gasp save to deny the Burkinabe striker.

Koutiama then unleashed a ferocious shot that went inches over the bar from distance.

Bidco effort at came goal two minutes later through Thomas Wainaina who delivered a beautiful cross but it wasn’t worked on with the match proceeding at the interval goalless.

The defending champions then had several chances to take the lead through Edward Omondi and Koutiama but they did not convert.

Second half substitute Ambrose Sifuna then found a loose ball inside the box in the 80th minute and hit a hard shot but it was saved beautifully by Emuria.

Bidco made good their transition from defence to attack in 85th minute with Wainaina looping the ball counter which found Victor Kunyili with the attacker slotting into the bottom left corner.

With two minutes to full-time,Police rightback Baraka Badi delivered a ball into the box, Yves Koutiama reacted fastest and knocked the ball into the net for the equaliser and secured a point at home for the law enforcers.


The draw leaves both teams largely unmoved as Kenya Police FC remains in 6th place with 29 points while Bidco United moves to 16 points.
