Defending Kenya Cup champions Kabras Sugar continued their impressive run in the regular season of the 2025/26 campaign, overpowering Strathmore Leos 81–21 in a rescheduled Round Five fixture on Friday at the Kakamega Showground.
The fixture, originally slated for Saturday alongside five other matches, was moved forward to Friday to allow Strathmore Leos players and officials to attend the burial of the late Felix Odhiambo “Chano,” scheduled for Saturday.
Before kickoff, both sides observed a minute of silence in honour of Chano, who died in an accident earlier this year.

Kabras Sugar vs Strathmore Leos report
Kabras drew first blood at home through Teddy Akala for a 5–0 lead after Eric Cantona missed the conversion.
The hosts then extended their advantage through Patrick Lumumba, with Cantona adding the extras, before Akala crossed again for his second try and the Sugar Millers’ third, to stretch the lead to 17–0.
Elton Amalemba brought the Leos back into the contest with a well-converted try, but Walter Okoth replied for Kabras to make it 22–7.
Okoth soon added his second the team’s fifth with Cantona converting again, pushing the score to 29–7.
Although Arnold Muita managed to pull one back for Willis Ojal side, Kabras maintained their relentless tempo.
David Bunduki crossed over before halftime, with Cantona converting to ensure the hosts headed into the break firmly in control at 36–14.
The second half proved as one-sided as the first, with Carlos Katywa dominating proceedings.
Kabras added five converted tries and two unconverted scores, while the Leos managed one further converted try becoming the first side to breach the Kabras defence three times this season, but it was nowhere near enough to avoid an 81–21 defeat.
The reigning champions remain undefeated this season, extending their unbeaten streak while amassing 387 points so far. For the Leos, this marks their third loss of the regular season.
25/26 Kenya Cup Round 5 preview

Round Five continues on Saturday with the seventh edition of the Nakuru Derby, as Menengai Oilers host Nakuru RFC at the ASK Showground.
The Oilers enter the fixture in strong form after winning the last two derbies and will aim to extend that dominance, while Nakuru RFC are desperate to turn their season around as they chase only a second victory.
MMUST will also be at home, hosting Impala RFC. The students are hunting their first win of the season against an Impala side seeking a second triumph.

In the capital, Nondies host the ever-rowdy KU Blak Blad at Ngong Racecourse in a tightly poised mid-table clash KU sit fourth on 15 points, with Nondies just behind on 13.
Elsewhere, KCB welcome Kenya Harlequins to the Den, while Daystar Falcons lock horns with Kisumu RFC at Daystar Athi River in a bottom-of-the-table battle.
Both sides are rooted to positions eleven and twelve respectively, each on zero points and separated only by points difference.
