Tanzania Premier League Giants Young Africans (Yanga SC) have completed the signing of highly-rated Uganda Cranes midfielder Allan Okello from Vipers SC of Uganda.

This follows after the powerhouse secured his release from Vipers, despite him having six months remaining on his previous deal.

“Star Boy has arrived,” Young Africans confirmed via their social media platforms.

Okello, who was part of the Uganda Cranes squad at the ongoing CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 in Morocco, arrived in Tanzania on Monday and successfully completed his medical.

Meanwhile, his former club bid him farewell with an emotional note:

“Vipers SC thanks Okello for his professionalism, commitment and decisive contributions during one of the most successful periods in the club’s history and wishes him the very best in the next chapter of his career,” added the Ugandan side.

The talented player, who helped Vipers SC win a double last season, was also a member of the Uganda Cranes team that reached the quarter-final stage of the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) last year, hosted jointly by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.

Okello also took to his social media to thank Vipers SC for the wonderful two and a half years spent with the club.

“I bid farewell very pleased with this chapter of my career, and I’m also excited for the next to begin. I take with me wonderful and unforgettable memories,” said Okello.

Having joined Vipers in September 2023 following his return from Algerian side Paradou AC, Okello quickly established himself as the team’s creative force.

In the 2024/2025 season, he was Vipers SC’s top scorer with 19 goals.

Reports from SportPesa Blog Tanzania indicate Okello will make history as one of the highest-paid players at the club, following a lucrative signing package after attracting interest from other sides such as MC Alger.

Okello joins Yanga at a crucial moment, as the record Tanzanian champions look to make a strong statement in the CAF Champions League this season while also aiming to defend their domestic titles.

Yanga is also home to Harambee Stars Midfielder Duke Abuya.
