Mathare United have moved to strengthen their attacking options after completing the signing of experienced winger Michael Oduor, as the club pushes for a strong finish to the 2025/26 SportPesa League season.
The Slum Boys confirmed the arrival of Oduor on Thursday, bringing on board a player who boasts vast top-flight experience, having previously featured for KCB FC, Tusker FC, Wazito FC and Sofapaka FC.
His signing comes at a crucial time for Mathare United, who have struggled for consistency in the final third this season and are keen to add more firepower going into the second half of the campaign.

Mathare United have completed the signing of winger Michael Oduor
Oduor, who has been without a club since parting ways with KCB at the end of the 2024/25 season, expressed his delight at joining the Nairobi-based side. The winger revealed that he is eager to make up for lost time after spending several months inactive and is determined to make an immediate impact.
“I am delighted to be part of this club and to be back playing after spending the last few months inactive,” Oduor said after completing the move. “I want to thank the coach for believing in me, and I want to repay his faith by being productive with goals and assists.”

Head coach John Kamau, who is working with Oduor for the first time, believes the winger’s versatility and experience will be key in addressing the team’s attacking challenges. Oduor is capable of playing across the entire front three, offering flexibility and tactical options as Mathare United look to improve their goal output.
“We have struggled with scoring this season, and this was a major reason why we have looked into the market to find solutions,” Kamau explained. “Oduor is an experienced player who gives us a big presence in our forward line and alleviates some of the scoring burden. Finding one player who can score goals isn’t easy, so we are looking to spread the scoring duties, and we might add one or two players.”
Despite being unattached, Oduor has been training with the team in recent weeks to regain match fitness and is expected to be available for selection when Mathare United face Murang’a Seal in their first league match of the new year this Saturday.
At Mathare United, Oduor reunites with several familiar faces, including former teammates midfielders Mohammed Kilume, Brian Ochieng, Elli Asieche and Musa Masika, a factor that could help him settle quickly. He also links up once again with current goalkeeper coach David Okello, with whom he previously played at KCB.

In addition to the new signing, the club has also confirmed departures as part of its squad reshaping. Meshack Ochieno, Peter Oudu, Jacob Onyango and Derrick Anami have all parted ways with Mathare United by mutual consent.
With Oduor’s arrival and further reinforcements not ruled out, Mathare United will be hoping the changes inject fresh energy into the squad as they target improved performances and results in the remainder of the season.
