Nejmeh confirmed the signing with a short message on their official social media platforms accompanied by a video with some of the goals the attacker has scored for Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars.

“We won’t talk much… the pitch will be the scale and decider. Austin Odhiambo, welcome to Lighthouse Castle,” Nejmeh posted.

Odhiambo joined Gor Mahia in 2021 from arch-rivals AFC Leopards, a move that immediately put him under intense scrutiny with the Ingwe faithful seeing the move as a betrayal having joined the club’s youth team from Babadogo United before being elevated to the senior side.

However, the attacking midfielder silenced doubters in emphatic fashion, quickly establishing himself as the heartbeat of K’Ogalo’s midfield.

His intelligence between the lines, calmness in possession and eye for a decisive pass made him indispensable and he became Kogalo’s go to man when goals are needed.

The 2023/24 season proved to be the defining chapter of his Gor Mahia career. Odhiambo was crowned the SportPesa League Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the 2023/24 season, after playing a central role in Gor Mahia’s march to their 21st league title.

He finished the campaign with double figures in both goals and assists, often delivering in decisive moments when the pressure was at its highest.

During his time at the club, Odhiambo helped Gor Mahia secure 2 league titles and remain competitive in domestic competitions, further cementing his reputation as one of the finest midfielders in the country.

As he prepares to test himself on a new stage, his journey from the SportPesa League to Beirut stands as a reminder of what talent, patience and consistency can achieve.
