Tusker FC winger Ian Simiyu has expressed confidence in their charge towards winning the SportPesa League title for the 25/26 campaign.
The newly acquired player this season has been a core figure for Charles Okere’s side, and on Sunday he managed to bag a brace when his team defeated the struggling Sofapaka 2-0 in Round 13 of the league at the Kasarani Annex.
The opener arrived in the 70th minute when Simiyu, surging down the left wing, drove toward the corner before unleashing a powerful strike toward goal.

The effort slipped through the legs of Sofapaka goalkeeper Edward Olaka, handing Tusker the lead.
His second also stemmed from a well-worked move, sparked by substitute Eric Kapaito.
After winning possession brilliantly on the right, Kapaito cut the ball back to the edge of the area, where the sensational Simiyu collected it alone and calmly slotted home to seal the win in the 78th minute.

Speaking after the match, the former Nzoia Sugar player stated that the two goals he scored will drive the team toward title contention this season.
“This win means we are chasing the league trophy, and that is our main objective this season- to win it. As a team, we are putting all our efforts toward that,” he explained.
Currently, the Brewers are in second place on the log with 21 points, level with leaders Kenya Police, but the two are separated by goal difference.
They stand one point above third, fourth, and fifth-placed Gor Mahia, Kakamega Homeboyz, and Posta Rangers, who have 20 points each.

Simiyu added that he draws inspiration from his fellow teammates based on their performances, as he aims for more than 10 goals this season, having already netted three.
“My motivation comes from the team the way we are playing, the effort we’re putting in, and the bond we share each time we play together. My target is to score more than ten goals this season, and I’ve already netted three,” he added.
Tusker, currently on a three-match winning streak, will aim to make it four wins when they take on Nairobi United on Wednesday at the SportPesa Arena in Murang’a County, with kickoff set for 2 PM.
