  • Kenya Police FC vs AFC Leopards SportPesa League Round 13 will be played on Saturday, December 13.
  • The match will be staged at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, with kickoff set for 4:00 pm EAT.
  • Both teams come into the fixture looking to build on their previous victories as they aim to improve their league standings.

After toppling their arch-rivals and spoiling the title hopes of league hopefuls Gor Mahia last weekend, AFC Leopards face another challenge on the road this Saturday.

They take on the reigning champions, Kenya Police FC, at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, from 4 PM.

Ingwe will aim to capitalize on the momentum from that crucial victory, secured by a Julius Masaba first-half solo strike that delivered all three points against the league leaders last Sunday at Nyayo Stadium.

Kenya Police FC vs AFC Leopards preview

The Fred Ambani-led side cannot be discounted from the title race- a trophy they have thirsted for over two decades- as they trail Gor Mahia by just three points.

A triumph against the Law Enforcers would propel them from their current eighth position (with 17 points) to at least fourth in the standings.

This would draw them level on points with Gor Mahia, Kakamega Homeboyz, Kenya Police, and leapfrog Posta Rangers, with the teams separated only by goal difference.

The twelve-time top-flight champions will be pursuing their fifth win of the season, and their third away from home.

So far, their travels have yielded only two victories from five matches, earning them eight points on the road.

However, to achieve this, they must overcome a Dusan Stajonavic-led side that will also enter the encounter with confidence, following a narrow 1-0 victory over Kariobangi Sharks, courtesy of an Aboud Omar free-kick.

Kenya Police have an opportunity to reclaim the top spot and assert their authority in the title defense, especially after fellow contenders Gor Mahia and Kakamega Homeboyz were held to draws in their respective matches on Friday.

They return home seeking to return to winning ways, having suffered a 1-0 defeat in their last outing at the Police Sacco Grounds against Shabana FC.

This match will be the eighth in charge for new Kenya Police head coach Dusan Stajonavic, who has overseen five wins in his first seven games, with defeats only to Gor Mahia and Shabana.

“We are sustaining the same momentum from game to game with the same approach. We are not getting carried away about the title but are focused solely on the next match,” Stajonavic stated last weekend.

Meanwhile, AFC Leopards’ Fred Ambani has made their ambition clear:

We are going for the league title. If you look at our performance, it was that of a championship-chasing team. To win it, we must defeat every side above us, and that’s what we intend to do,” Ambani told Azam Sports TV after the win over Gor Mahia.

Both sides have reported no major injuries, though the hosts will be looking to improve their attacking efficiency, having struggled to score from open play recently, relying on set-pieces.

AFC Leopards, having introduced new faces in their last match, could see Ambani rotate his squad once more.
