Morocco, who are the hosts of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 tournament, have named their final squad for the tournament taking place from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.

The big question surrounding the squad has finally been resolved as head coach Walid Regragui has included Achraf Hakimi in the 26-man squad called up for duty.

The Atlas Lions were sweating on the fitness of Hakimi, who was recently crowned the African Football of the Year 2025, after the PSG man sustained a serious-looking injury in a UEFA Champions League clash against Bayern in November.

Alongside Hakimi, Morocco’s list includes other international figures who play in top European clubs.

Notable names include Brahim Díaz from Real Madrid, Nayef Aguerd, Manchester United’s Noussair Mazraoui, and the promising Eliesse Ben Seghir.

These players form the backbone of a team that will seek to lift the trophy for the first time since their only victory in 1976.

One of the most notable absences in the squad is that of former Ajx and Chelsea attacker Hakim Ziyech. The experienced winger, who recently became a star signing for Wydad Casablanca, is not in Regragui’s plans for the 2025 Africa Cup.
