Shabana celebrate after beating Bidco United

Shabana secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over struggling Bidco United in a Round 12 SportPesa League match played at Gusii Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The victory helped Tore Bobe end their run of three consecutive home defeats, propelling them to fourth place on the SportPesa League standings with 18 points.

The decisive moment came in the 53rd minute when stand-in captain Mark Okolla calmly converted a penalty to hand the Peter Okidi-managed side the crucial three points, their first home win since Round 1 against APS Bomet in Septemeber.

Okolla, skippering the side in the absence of the injured George Orako, stepped up after the referee pointed to the spot.

The penalty was awarded by Referee Baddir Yassin after a cross from Shabana’s Humphrey Obina struck the arm of Bidco debutant Christopher Raila inside the box.

The victory was a positive welcome home for Okidi, who had been away on national team duty serving as the assistant coach for the Kenya U17 team at the CECAFA Championship in Ethiopia.

Okidi showed faith in his squad by maintaining the same starting eleven that has beat Police FC 1-0 under assistant coach Bernard Mwalala.
