AFC Leopards Captain Victor Omune says there is no finer chance to get back to winning ways than securing victory in the Mashemeji Derby on Sunday.

Ingwe will face Gor Mahia in the first leg of the long-awaited rivalry clash, which was initially set for November 29 before being postponed.

The match will now be staged at Nyayo National Stadium this Sunday, December 7, kicking off at 3:00 PM EAT.

Speaking during a training session at Marist International University in Karen on Thursday, Omune stated that the squad has been sharp in camp since their last SportPesa League match and that the fixture itself is a major motivation.

“The camp has been good; every player is really psyched up. The Mashemeji clash is motivation, and everyone is truly prepared for the match.”

Omune, who has scored twice in past Mashemeji Derbies, noted that despite the team’s three-match winless run (2 draws, 1 loss), this presents a prime opportunity to return to form, and he is confident they can do so on Sunday.

I also believe this is the moment to get back to winning ways, and there’s no greater way to do that than winning a derby. We are ready, and the match is the motivation- because a derby isn’t like other games. Everyone is excited, and everyone will be watching.”

Currently, Fred Ambani’s side sits seventh on the table with 14 points from three wins and five draws, having lost only once.

They trail leaders Gor Mahia by five points, with K’Ogalo leading the standings with 19 points.

The former Kariobangi Sharks striker added that they will use this match to relieve the pressure that has built around the club and promised to give their all for the fans come Sunday.

K’Ogalo announced that tickets have been limited, with only 18,000 available for Sunday’s clash.

Regular tickets will cost KES 300, VIP KES 1,000, and VVIP KES 5,000.
