The host Head Coach, Patrick Odhiambo, made several changes to the starting lineup that lost against Mathare United last time out.

Simon Masaka was handed his first start of the season in goal, replacing Edwin Mukolwe. Rookie Simon Abungananga was handed his debut, while Peter Thiongo and Gideon Bendeka also returned to the starting eleven.

For Posta, Sammy Omollo ‘Pamzo’ retained the same starting eleven.

Homeboyz were the first to knock on the door, as Eston Omengo’s delivery found John Omondi, whose strike hit the crossbar.

Rangers responded with an explosive run from Caleb Olilo that was blocked by Abungananga to maintain the scoreline.

With three minutes to the end of the opening half, the deadlock was broken as Rodgers Ouma pressed high and latched onto a loose ball to strike home his first goal since joining the club at the start of the season.

The match proceeded to halftime with the one goal as the difference.

In the second half, Posta once again made a foray; Olilo moved dangerously into the area, but his effort was thwarted by the Homeboyz defense.

The hosts would double their lead when substitute Henry Omollo combined with Hillary Juma, who delivered a shot past Rangers goalkeeper Bixente for the winner with ten minutes to play.

The win, the fifth of the season for Homeboyz, gets them back to second on the log, a point shy of leaders Gor Mahia while it extends Rangers winless run to six matches.

Murang’a SEAL vs Shabana

Meanwhile, in Murang’a County, Murang’a SEAL came from behind at the SportPesa Arena to secure a 1-1 draw with Shabana, maintaining their five-match unbeaten run. This streak, however, includes four draws and just a single victory.

Wcliffe Ochieng scored the opener for Peter Okidi’s side before John Kiplagat equalized in the first half, ensuring Shabana did not achieve back-to-back victories.

The result leaves them in ninth place with 12 points, while SEAL sits in 15th with 10 points.
