Kenya vs Senegal preview
Harambee Stars enter this match aiming to bounce back from a 1-0 defeat to Equatorial Guinea last Friday at the Emir Complex in Antalya.
The Benni McCarthy-led squad is using these high-profile friendlies to test themselves as part of their long-term preparation for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2027, which they will co-host with Uganda and Tanzania.
Meanwhile, the former African champions, Senegal, enter this match following a 2-0 defeat to Brazil in another high-profile friendly on Saturday at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.
While Kenya has no major tournaments on the immediate horizon, the Lions of Teranga are using these matches to prepare for the rapidly approaching AFCON 2025, which will be held in Morocco this December.
Kenya vs Senegal: Key area Harambee Stars have been working on
Kimani revealed the team has focused intensely on improving their offensive play to ensure they convert the chances they create, having faltered several opportunities against Equatorial Guinea.
We have been working on the boys’ attacking prowess and practicing how we can find the back of the net, while also instilling the importance of composure when they get good opportunities in the final third.
I am certain that when we get such clear chances against Senegal, we are going to do better,” he explained.

Assistant coach Kimani confident Harambee Stars are ready to counter Senegal’s threat
The former Kenya international stated that while he respects the threat posed by Pap Thiaw side, he is confident his team is prepared to counter them and showcase their own capabilities.
I know the boys understand the task at hand, and we are looking forward to the match. We are really well-prepared. Yes, they are the favorites, but we are a strong team as well.
They might have won the AFCON, and they might have big players in major leagues, but the boys we have in camp are waiting for their big break. This is a match that will give them an opportunity to show what they are capable of,” he reiterated.
These two sides have met five times since 1990, with Kenya yet to secure a victory or even score a goal. Senegal has won four of those encounters, with one match ending in a goalless draw.
