Jereko, who initially joined HB Køge on loan from the NWSL outfit Kansas City Current in the USA during the summer transfer window, has impressed the Danish club’s technical bench with her consistent performances.

Confirming the news, HB Køge’s sports director Jonas Nielsen praised the Kenyan international for her quick adaptation and valuable contribution to the team.

“We are really happy that Jereko is continuing at the club. She is a talented player who has quickly become an important part of the team.

It was quite natural for us to continue the collaboration especially because she thrives here and fits perfectly into the dynamics of the squad,” Nielsen said.

Since joining the club, Jereko has made 13 appearances and scored one goal, which came in an away match against FCV Farul Constanța. Her versatility and creativity in midfield have made her a key figure in the Danish club’s campaign.

Why Mwanahalima Dogo signed permanent deal?

The 28-year-old midfielder expressed her delight at extending her stay in Denmark, describing the club as a place where she feels completely at home.

“I am staying at the club because it feels like home. I have a really good connection with the people here, and I believe in the direction we are moving in. I am really happy to be here and cannot wait to keep giving everything I have,” said Jereko.

Before moving to Denmark, Jereko had joined Kansas City Current in the United States in a high-profile transfer.

However, her stint in the NWSL did not go as planned due to limited playing time, which prompted the loan move to HB Køge in search of regular minutes. The decision has since paid off, with Jereko rediscovering her best form in Europe.

Her resurgence has also been evident on the international stage. The Kenyan midfielder played a pivotal role in helping Harambee Starlets qualify for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scoring in both legs of the final qualifying round against The Gambia.

The qualification marked Kenya’s first return to the continental tournament in nearly a decade, the last appearance coming in 2016.

Jereko and her HB Køge teammates will wrap up the year with their final A-League home fixture this Saturday against FC Nordsjælland, where the Kenyan star will be hoping to continue her impressive form.
