Leading online gaming firm SportPesa has announced the four nominees for the SportPesa League October 2025 Coach of the Month award, recognizing tacticians who guided their teams to impressive performances during a competitive month in the 25/26 SportPesa League campaign.
The nominees in the ongoing 25/26 Kenya Premier League, now known as the SportPesa League, include Tusker’s Charles Okere, Kakamega Homeboyz’s Patrick Odhiambo, Gor Mahia’s Charles Akonnor and AFC Leopards’ Fred Ambani.
The four managers are set to compete for a total prize of 75,000 shillings.

SportPesa League October 2025 Coach of the Month nominees
Charles Okere- Tusker FC
Tusker head coach Charles Okere enjoyed an unbeaten run in October, steering the Brewers to two victories and two draws.
His side maintained remarkable consistency both at home and on the road, collecting valuable points that lifted their league position.
The Brewers began the month with a barren draw against Mathare United before sharing spoils again in a one-all draw with Shabana at home.
They then picked up momentum with a narrow one-nil win over Murang’a Seal away and rounded off the month with a two-one victory against Kariobangi Sharks at home.
Okere’s side found the back of the net four times while conceding only twice, keeping two clean sheets in the process a reflection of their defensive discipline.

Patrick Odhiambo- Kakamega Homeboyz
Kakamega Homeboyz boss Patrick Odhiambo also had a productive month, leading his charges to four wins out of five fixtures.
Despite suffering one defeat, the Abana Beingo showed attacking prowess and determination throughout October.
Odhiambo’s men began with a crucial one-nil win away to Sofapaka before stumbling to a two-nil home loss against Nairobi United.
They bounced back strongly, dispatching Bidco United and Ulinzi Stars with identical three-one victories before sealing the month with a two-one triumph over newbies APS Bomet.
The Kakamega-based outfit scored nine goals and conceded four, showcasing their attacking depth even though they failed to keep a clean sheet.
Charles Akonnor – Gor Mahia
At Gor Mahia, new head coach Charles Akonnor had a perfect start to life in charge, winning all three matches played in October.
The record league champions were dominant and clinical, scoring six goals and keeping three consecutive clean sheets.
K’Ogalo edged KCB one-nil away, dismantled Posta Rangers three-nil at home, and wrapped up the month with a two-nil victory over Mathare United on the road.
Akonnor’s hundred percent record and defensive solidity make him one of the strongest contenders for the accolade.

Fred Ambani – AFC Leopards
Fred Ambani, in charge of AFC Leopards, also guided his side through an unbeaten month. Ingwe won two matches and drew two, scoring six goals and conceding four.
They began with a two-two stalemate against Posta Rangers away before being held to a goalless draw by Bandari at home.
Ambani’s men then beat KCB two-one at home and silenced Shabana with a similar scoreline at Gusii Stadium.
The Leopards’ resurgence under Ambani has been notable, and their October form reflects a team regaining confidence and balance.
The race for the SportPesa Coach of the Month award is expected to be tightly contested, with all four tacticians demonstrating quality leadership, tactical acumen and consistency throughout October.
