Gor Mahia squad travelling to Tanzania to face Simba SC
  • Gor Mahia has named 23-man squad for ODM at 20 Celebrations tournament in Mombasa.
  • According to ODM party the action kicks off on Thursday at the Mbaraki Sports Club.
  • Hosts Bandari FC will face AFC Leopards at 2 P.M. in the opening match.
  • The second fixture of the day, at 4 P.M., will pit Kisii-based Shabana FC against Gor Mahia FC.

Gor Mahia Head Coach Charles Akonnor has named a 23-man squad set to travel to Mombasa for the ODM at 20 Celebrations football tournament.

The tournament, which runs from Thursday, October 9, to Friday, October 10 at the Mbaraki Stadium, will feature a clash of giants: Gor Mahia, arch-rivals AFC Leopards, Shabana FC, and hosts Bandari FC.

While K’Ogalo will be looking to assert their dominance in the competition, where the champion will walk away with one million Kenyan shillings, they will be without six key players who are on duty with the Harambee Stars squad for the World Cup Qualifiers: Austin Odhiambo, Michael Kibwage, Ben Stanley Omondi, Byrne Omondi, Sylvester Owino, and Alpha Onyango.

Notably absent from the traveling contingent is new signing Lewis Bandi, who has missed Gor Mahia’s last two matches.

The team will be led by the in-form Ebenezer Adukwaw, who has been lethal in Gor’s two most recent matches, having scored two goals and provided an assist.

Ennock Morrison has also been included in the squad, while defender Siraj Mohamed returns to his former home ground, Mbaraki Sports Club, after joining Gor this season.

Fresh from scoring against KCB over the weekend, Felix Oluoch Mboya will also be aiming to propel the team to victory in this tournament, which is being played during the two-week FIFA international break.

ODM at 20 celebrations Fixtures

According to a statement released by the ODM party on October 7, the action kicks off on Thursday. Hosts Bandari FC will face AFC Leopards at 2 P.M. in the opening match.

The second fixture of the day, at 4 p.m., will pit Kisii-based Shabana FC against Gor Mahia FC. The losers’ final will be played on Friday at noon, followed by the grand finale at 2 PM.

Record Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia FC are set to depart Nairobi this evening (Tuesday, October 7) for Mombasa.

The delegation is led by the Club’s Administrative Manager, Ronald Ngala, as the Head of Delegation. He is supported by a six-member technical bench:
