Kenya Police FC kicked off their campaign to defend their title with a disappointing start, held to a goalless draw by Ulinzi Stars in a midweek SportPesa League clash on Wednesday evening at the Police Sacco Grounds.

This was the season opener for the law enforcers, who were previously committed to the CAF Champions League.

For the Soldiers, however, this marked their third outing of the season, allowing them to extend their unbeaten run by adding a point to the four they had already secured from a win over Murang’a SEAL and a draw with Kariobangi Sharks.

A vibrant crowd at the Sacco Grounds saw Ulinzi Stars, under the charge of Danstun Nyaudo, start the match brightly, creating clear opportunities in the first 20 minutes but failing to convert.

The hosts’ first clear chance arrived in the 26th minute through Marvin Nabwire, whose shot towards the left corner was expertly saved by Soldiers’ custodian Ricks Omondi, ensuring the game remained a cagey affair.

With Ulinzi continuing to dominate, another clear-cut chance emerged in the 37th minute.

Boniface Muchiri delivered a good cross into the box, but Paul Okoth, sliding in to finish, just missed the ball.

Three minutes later, a shot from Edward Omondi on the left wing was intercepted by Felix Ochieng, keeping Ulinzi in the game. The first half concluded as a tightly contested, deadlocked battle.

Kenya Police FC and Nairobi United kick off their SportPesa League 2025/26 campaign today, Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

The second half commenced with both sides creating chances, but neither could find a breakthrough.

Ulinzi came close to breaking the deadlock in the 60th minute, earning a succession of three corners in quick succession. The final one was particularly dangerous, as Muchiri sent in a cross that found Bildad Abonga, whose effort was ultimately cleared by an alert Police defence.

Leon Levitt caught the Police FC defence on a counter-attack in the 70th minute, but his resulting shot was parried by goalkeeper Job Ochieng for a corner that came to nothing. Ulinzi continued to press, camping in the Police half.

The Soldiers had the better chances to snatch a winner, but last season’s Golden Glove champion, Job Ochieng, repeatedly denied them, ensuring the two teams settled for a share of the points.

The result extends Ulinzi’s unbeaten streak to three matches, while Police begin their title defense with a single point.

Tusker vs Mathare United

In another Wednesday clash in Nairobi, a wasteful Tusker FC side registered their first point of the season after being held to a goalless draw by Mathare United at the Dandora Stadium.

The Brewers had kicked off their campaign with back-to-back defeats against KCB and Posta Rangers and were desperate for all three points. However, Mathare United held firm, boosting their tally to four points for the season.
