- Kariobangi Sharks hunt first SportPesa League win against KCB.
- The match will be played at Kasarani Annex, kicking off at 3:00 PM EAT.
- This fixture serves as the curtain-raiser for Matchweek 3 of the SportPesa League.
Kariobangi Sharks’ hunt for their first victory of the 2025/26 SportPesa League season continues on Tuesday, September 30, as they welcome KCB to the Kasarani Annex from 3 PM EAT, with the league entering its third matchweek.
The Sharks have managed to collect only two points from their first two opening matches of the 2025/26 season.
Their sole achievement so far has been keeping clean sheets, following a scoreless draw with Bandari FC in their opener and another 0-0 stalemate against Ulinzi Stars.

The results have left William Muluya’s side lingering in ninth place on the standings, a position they will be eager to improve on as they pursue their first maximum points of the season.
Furthermore, Sharks have yet to replicate their form from the last campaign, where they began with an unbeaten run in their first five matches, registering three wins and two draws.
It is a feat they can still emulate if they start with a victory today against the Bankers.
However, it will not be a straightforward task to secure the win, as their opponents are also desperate to bounce back after suffering their first defeat of the season last weekend.
Mathare United ended KCB’s perfect start by stunning them 0-1, with Ellie Asieche scoring from a free-kick.
The Bankers are now under new head coach, the experienced Robert Matano, a four-time top-flight title winner.
His mission this season is to guide the club to its maiden top-flight title. They began their campaign on a high, securing three points with a 0-2 victory over Tusker FC.

KCB ready to face Kariobangi Sharks
Speaking to the club’s media, captain Humphrey Mieno stated that the team is ready to respond and claim all three points.
“I can tell from the mood in the camp that the boys are psyched up and ready to go. Coming from a loss, we are taking it positively and we are ready to face Sharks,” the club captain stated.

Meanwhile, after being held to stalemates in their opening matches, coach William Muluya has stated they will be working throughout the season to convert their chances into goals.
“This season we are working to improve in the final third. The fact that we’ve gone 180 minutes without scoring says a lot and it’s something we will be addressing. Last season we scored 29 goals, the lowest for Sharks, whereas previously we have had top scorers and netted 40 goals or more,” Muluya explained.
In the last five meetings between these two sides in the top tier, the Bankers have failed to pick up a victory. Sharks have dominated four of those clashes, with one ending in a goalless draw in the first leg of the previous season.
