Matchweek two of the 2025/26 SportPesa League kicks off with an exciting midweek clash as Ulinzi Stars host Kariobangi Sharks on Wednesday, September 24, at 4:00 PM at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.

Ulinzi come into the fixture riding high after a narrow but crucial 1-0 away victory over Murang’a SEAL in their season opener on Sunday at the SportPesa Arena.

The decisive goal came late in the game courtesy of new signing Paul Okoth whose timely strike secured all three points on the road.

Meanwhile, Sharks did not enjoy an ideal start to the season, as they were held to a goalless draw by Bandari FC last Saturday at the Kasarani Annex.

As a result, the William Muluya-led side will be aiming for all three points in this match to kickstart their campaign with a first victory.

They will also be looking to replicate their strong opening from last season, when they began the league unbeaten in their first five matches (3 wins, 2 draws).

Ulinzi Stars ready to face Kariobangi Sharks in Sportpesa League matchweek 2

Speaking ahead of the clash, Ulinzi Stars head coach Dunstan Nyaudo stated that his team is prepared for the encounter despite limited preparation time.

“We had no time to rest, we played on Sunday and now we have a match on Wednesday. But I can say my boys are in high spirits. We are prepared for this second match and will face it with great determination.”

Ulinzi Stars have at least started this season on a better note compared to the last, where they went five matches without a win- a fact that Nyaudo says has truly motivated the squad after winning their first match.

“I can say we are really motivated. For about four years, we had never won our league opener, and now that it has happened this season, it has significantly boosted the boys’ morale.”

Nyaudo reported only one major injury in his squad.

“I only have one injury: Frederick Odour, who suffered an ankle injury. He is the only player missing right now and may be unavailable for about two weeks.”

“Winning the first league match has really motivated us. The boys are in high spirits and ready for tomorrow’s match. We had a good training session, and we are going for the maximum points.”

Last season, Ulinzi Stars collected four points from the two encounters – a 1-0 victory in the first leg, followed by a draw in the return fixture.
