Veteran Griffin Ligare electrified the crowd with a clutch three-pointer in the final minute as Nairobi City Thunder overpowered Kenya Ports Authority, completing a commanding 3-0 series sweep to claim the 2025 Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Men’s Premier League title.

It marks their second consecutive championship and extends their historic unbeaten streak to 82 matches since last season.

KPA had only one task comimg to this encounter: force a Game Four at the Nyayo Gymnasium on Saturday night after dropping the first two contests at their home court, the Makande Gymnasium.

However, the impeccable Brad Ibs side denied them utterly, dominating the game for a resounding 80-43 triumph to close out the season.

In front of a vibrant home crowd, point guard Garang Diing spearheaded the offense with 20 points. Tyler Ongwe followed closely with 14, while Derrick Ogechi contributed 11 to the scoreboard.

This commanding performance followed their earlier wins of 81-47 in Game One and 93-79 in Game Two.

KPA, in contrast, struggled immensely and failed to produce a single player who reached double figures in the decisive third match.

The home team came out with explosive energy in the first quarter, determined to settle the contest early.

They established a commanding 26-7 lead, creating an 18-point deficit that proved insurmountable for KPA.

Diing was instrumental in this early surge, leading the charge with 12 points in the period, supported by Ongwae with six and Dismas Mbaka with four.

The visitors struggled offensively, mirroring their difficulties from the previous games.

Morel Spenser topped their roster with a mere three points, followed by Monte Kimber and Gerry Wekesa with two apiece.

KPA attempted to mount a response in the second quarter, but Thunder managed to edge the period 14-12, entering halftime with a formidable 38-19 overall advantage.

Any hope of a dramatic comeback was extinguished after the break.

The third quarter saw no shift in momentum, with Thunder extending their lead by winning the period 21-16 for a 59-35 scoreline.

The final quarter was a mere formality; Thunder simply maintained their dominance, closing out the game 21-8.

It was in this closing stretch that veteran Griffin Ligare, making his first appearance of the series, came off the bench to seal the victory and help his team lift the silverware once again, their perfect record still unscathed.
