Portuguese football coach Jose Mourinho has parted ways with Fenerbahce after failing to help the club qualify for the 2025/2026 UEFA Champions League season.
Fenerbahce made the decision to sack Mourinho after the club suffered a 1-0 defeat to Benfica in a Champions League qualifier match that was played on Wednesday, August 27.

In a brief statement, the club’s management thanked Mourinho, popularly known as “The Special One” for his services.
“We have parted ways with Jose Mourinho, who was part of our professional football A team from the 2024-2025 season.
We would like to thank him for his efforts for our team so far and wish him success in his future career,” read a statement from the Turkish based side.

Mourinho, who has enjoyed an immense managerial career in Europe, helped Fenerbahce to finish second in the Turkish Premier League last season.
His squad, which had highly-rated players like Fred, were beaten to the title by Galatasaray.
