After an unforgettable spell with Tusker FC, Mike Kibwage is saying goodbye. For over two seasons, Kibwage was a regular member of Tusker’s backline. Now, as the player who starred for the Harambee Stars at the CHAN 2024 tournament departs the FKF Premier League side, he has shared a heartwarming message to the Brewers fraternity.

Kibwage, who is heading to the record FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia FC, has thanked the Tusker supporters and the club’s management for the love they showed him over the years.

“After two and a half amazing seasons, my time at Tusker FC has come to an end. I want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank everyone at the club – my teammates, the technical bench, management and most importantly the fans – for the support and belief you have shown me during my journey here.

 Wearing the Tusker jersey has been a true honor; and every moment on the pitch has been special. I am grateful for the memories we created together; the challenges we overcame, and the successes we celebrated,” read part of his statement.

Moreover, Kibwage added that he has learned a lot of lessons while playing for the club which is based in Ruaraka, Nairobi County.

As stated by the 27-year-old, he will always remember all the valuable lessons he picked at Tusker FC.  

“This club has given me so much, not only as a footballer but also as a person, and I will carry those lessons with me into the next chapter of my career.

To the Brewers family, thank you for making me feel at home. I leave with a heart full of gratitude and respect. Forever proud to have been part of Tusker FC,” he ended.

A brief look into Kibwage’s promising career

Kibwage joined Tusker FC in 2023 and went on to make numerous appearances for them.

He played a crucial role in the club’s campaign during the recently ended 2024/2025 season, helping them to finish fourth in the FKF Premier League title race with 57 points, eight less than the winners Kenya Police FC.

At the Kenya national football team, Kibwage has made several appearances. He shone in the ongoing CHAN tournament where he made several important clearances that helped the team make it to the quarter-final where they lost 1(3)-(1)4 to Madagascar. He missed the decisive penalty during that memorable match that was played at Kasarani Stadium on Friday, August 22, 2025.
