Kenya Police FC are set to clash with Somalia’s Mogadishu City Club in the first Preliminary Round of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League.

Making their debut in this prestigious tournament, the first leg is scheduled to take place between 19–21 September, with the return leg slated for 26–28 September as confirmed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), who conducted the draw on Saturday, August 9, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The law enforcers secured their place in this elite continental competition after clinching their maiden Kenya Premier League title in the 2024/25 season where they finished 65 points, dethroning record holders Gor Mahia in the process.

If they progress to the Second Preliminary Round, coach Etienne Ndayiragije’s side will face either Jamus FC of South Sudan or Sudan’s Al Hilal, with a coveted group stage berth at stake should they overcome their next opponents.

This marks their second appearance in CAF interclub competitions having participated in the CAF Confederation Cup last season where their journey ended in the Second Preliminary Round after being knocked out by Egyptian giants Zamalek FC.

This time around, they aim to surpass that hurdle in the CAF Champions League, seeking to etch their name among the continent’s football elite.

A total of 64 clubs are participating in the opening round of this season’s tournament, though two sides: Al Ahly of Egypt and Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa have already been granted byes to the second round due to their superior rankings.

Although Pyramids FC are the 2024 defending champions, they were not granted a direct entry into the second round.

Despite being African titleholders, they remain unseeded and will face APR of Rwanda in the first preliminary round.
