After her audacious sub-4 mile attempt at the Nike Breaking4 project, Kenyan athlete Faith Kipyegon will not be slowing down anytime soon.

Kipyegon’s Breaking4 mile attempt at the Stade Charléty was a powerful statement that reminded people the essence of believing in themselves.

Kipyegon, who holds several world records at the moment, crossed the finishing line in an encouraging time of 4:06.42.

Although she failed to achieve her goal of becoming the first woman in history to run a mile in under four minutes, Kipyegon inspired many people across the world.

Like she has always done, the Kenyan runner refused to give up on the ambitious goal, promising to make another attempt

“I gave everything. And I think the Wavelights also gave everything. It was the Wavelight’s time today.

I will say that this was the first trial. We learned many lessons from this race. I think going forward, I will go back to the drawing board,” Kipyegon told reporters during the post-race interview.

The multiple Olympic Games champion added that the attempt helped people understand the importance of trying their best in anything they do.

According to Kipyegon, people should not have a negative attitude about achieving things they seek to accomplish.

“This race was about showing the world that we have to push ourselves. We don’t have to limit ourselves in everything we do,” she stated.

Now with the Nike Breaking4 attempt behind her, many people are asking what is next for Kipyegon. Where will the track queen race next?

The answer to that question is the Prefontaine Classic, where the mother of one is expected to compete in her second Diamond League meeting of the season.

At the Prefontaine Classic, which is scheduled to be held on Sunday, July 5, at the Hayward Field in Eugene, United States, Kipyegon will battle it out in the 1500m race against a deep field.

Some of the entries that have been confirmed for the race include 2024 Paris Olympic Games medalists Georgia Hunter Bell and Jessica Hull.

Others include highly-rated Ethiopian runner Diribe Welteji (Ethiopia), Susan Lokayo (Kenya), Worknesh Mesele (Ethiopia), Nikki Hiltz (USA) and Sarah Healy (Ireland).

A win for Kipyegon at the Prefontaine Classic will put her at a better place of defending her title at the 2025 World Athletics Championships that will be held in Tokyo, Japan between September 13 and September 21.
