CHAN 2024
  • The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially confirmed that Kenya will host the final of the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024) at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani Stadium.
  • Tanzania’s Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, located in Dar es Salaam, will host the opening match of the tournament on 02 August 2025.
  • The Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, Uganda, has been designated to host the third-place playoff of the event.

Kenya will stage the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024) finals at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed.

CAF, on Thursday, June 19, 2025, announced all the venues for the tournament, which is set to be co-hosted by three East African nations: Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, from 02 – 30 August, 2025.

Meanwhile, Tanzania’s Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam will host the opening match of the tournament on 02 August 2025.

The Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, Uganda, has been designated to host the third-place playoff of the event before Kenya hosts the final match of the competition on 30 August 2025.

The CHAN 2024 host Nations

  • The Opening Match will be held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on Saturday, 02 August.
  • The Final Match will take place in Nairobi, Kenya on Saturday, 30 August.
  • The Third-Place Match will be staged in Kampala, Uganda.

Elsewhere, Kenya has been selected to host the Group A teams, which include Morocco, Angola, DR Congo, and Zambia.

Tanzania will serve as host for Group B, which consists of Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic.

Uganda will act as the host for Group C, comprising Uganda, Niger, Guinea, South Africa, and Algeria.

Additionally, Zanzibar has been designated as one of the host venues – a decision that underscores CAF’s commitment to broadening the inclusivity and geographic reach of African football.

Zanzibar will therefore host Group D, featuring Senegal, Equatorial Guinea (replacing Congo), Sudan, and Nigeria.

Zanzibar’s Amaan Stadium, which recently hosted a successful TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup 2024/25 Final in May, has proven its capacity to stage high-profile continental fixtures.
