Cristiano Ronaldo

Even at 40, Cristiano Ronaldo continues to dominate the football world, defying age and maintaining his elite status. Whether it’s his non-stop goal-scoring for club and country or his enduring fitness while most of his peers have retired, Ronaldo remains a force to be reckoned with.

On Sunday, the Portuguese legend played a pivotal role in guiding his national team to victory in the 2025 UEFA Nations League.

Portugal won over Spain in penalty shootout after Ronaldo scored a crucial equalizer to make it 2-2, forcing the match into extra time. His contribution was, once again, indispensable.

Although he has never captured a FIFA World Cup, the ultimate dream for many, Ronaldo has now secured three major international trophies, an achievement few can rival, especially at his age.

Ronaldo, now in his fourth decade, shows no signs of slowing down. SportPesa Blog takes a comprehensive look at all the silverware he has accumulated throughout a phenomenal career that continues to shine.

Portugal National team

Cristiano Ronaldo became the first footballer to earn 200 international caps when he faced Iceland in June 2023, celebrating the milestone with an 89th-minute winner. As of Sunday’s final, he has reached 221 international appearances.

He surpassed the 100-goal milestone in September 2020, equaled Ali Daei’s world record of 109 goals during UEFA EURO 2020, and broke it in September 2021. His 138th international goal came against Spain in the 2025 Nations League final.

In an emotional moment, Ronaldo broke into tears after teammate Ruben Neves converted the decisive penalty, securing Portugal’s second Nations League title, the first being in 2019. This adds to his haul that includes the 2016 UEFA European Championship.

He remains the highest goalscorer in men’s international football history with 138 goals and counting.

Sporting Lisbon

Cristiano Ronaldo journey began at Sporting CP, where he made his professional debut. He won his first trophy in 2002, when Sporting thrashed Leixões 5-1 to lift the Portuguese Super Cup (Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira).

During his brief spell at the club, Ronaldo scored five goals and provided four assists across 31 appearances, showcasing early signs of his prodigious talent.

Manchester United

Cristiano’s rise to global superstardom was shaped at Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Between 2003 and 2009, he evolved from a flamboyant winger into a world-class forward, scoring 145 goals in 346 matches.

The 2007/08 season was his breakout year, netting 42 goals in all competitions and leading United to a Premier League and UEFA Champions League double. He won his first Ballon d’Or that year.

During his first spell at United, he amassed:

  • 3 Premier League titles
  • 1 FA Cup
  • 2 EFL Cups
  • 1 UEFA Champions League
  • 1 FIFA Club World Cup
  • 1 Community Shield

Real Madrid

In 2009, Real Madrid acquired Ronaldo for a then-world record fee of £80 million. What followed was arguably the most prolific period in club football history.

In 438 appearances, Ronaldo scored a staggering 450 goals, surpassing Raul’s longstanding record.

He won;

  • 4 UEFA Champions League titles
  • 3 FIFA Club World Cups
  • 3 UEFA Super Cups
  • 2 La Liga titles
  • 2 Copa del Rey titles
  • 2 Spanish Super Cups

Cristiano Ronaldo claimed the Champions League Golden Boot for seven seasons, including five consecutive years (2013–2018).

He remains the all-time top scorer in the competition with 140 goals, along with records for most appearances (183) and assists (42).

Juventus

In 2018, Ronaldo joined Juventus in a high-profile €112 million move. Over three seasons, he netted 101 goals in 134 matches, including 81 in Serie A alone.

Trophies with Juventus:

  • 2 Serie A titles
  • 1 Coppa Italia
  • 2 Italian Super Cups

Despite the intense competition in Italy, Ronaldo maintained remarkable consistency and scoring efficiency.

Al Nassr

After a brief second stint at Manchester United ended in a fallout with Erik ten Hag, Ronaldo signed with Al Nassr in 2023.

He made an immediate impact by scoring a brace in the Arab Club Champions Cup final, delivering the club its first title in that competition. To date, he has:

  • 74 goals in 77 league appearances
  • 99 goals in 111 total matches

Ronaldo’s incredible form continues to fuel rumors of a contract extension, as he eyes even more accolades in Saudi Arabia.
