Sofapaka delivered a breathtaking performance as Jack Onganya netted a stunning hat-trick, dismantling FKF Premier League title contenders Tusker FC 7-1 at a joyous Dandora Stadium on Sunday, May 18.

Intent on derailing the Brewers’ pursuit of a 13th top-flight title, Batoto Ba Mungu made their intentions clear just three minutes into the clash.

Edward Omondi broke the deadlock with a clinical finish, setting the tone for a dominant afternoon.

With cracks appearing in Tusker’s backline, Dalvin Otieno doubled the advantage after a deft assist from Rodgers Kipkemoi, allowing Otieno to unleash a thunderous strike and extend the lead.

Ong’anya opened his account in the 38th minute, slotting home Sofapaka’s third to underline their control.

He completed his brace before halftime, capping off a first half where Sofapaka utterly dominated and cruised into the break with a commanding 4-0 lead.

After the interval, Kipkemoi added the fifth from the penalty spot for head coach Ezekiel Akwana’s side.

Although Tusker managed a consolation goal, the misery continued for them as Edward Omondi grabbed his second of the day.

Ong’anya then rounded off the emphatic victory by completing his hat-trick before the final whistle, sealing what is arguably Sofapaka’s most resounding triumph of the season.

Tusker’s title hopes fade as Kenya Police pull six points clear

Tusker’s title hopes now hang by a thread, and they will undoubtedly rue the costly errors that have plagued them throughout the second leg of the season.

Defensive frailties and a lack of sharpness in attack-especially since the injury of their top scorer, Ryan Ogam, have severely undermined their campaign.

As a consequence, Tusker have effectively cleared the path for the remaining two title contenders. Kenya Police, who secured a narrow 1-0 victory over FC Talanta, now sit six points ahead and require just three more from their final two fixtures to clinch the championship.

Gor Mahia, currently in third place with 54 points, remain in contention despite being held to a goalless stalemate by Murang’a SEAL. However, with a game in hand, Gor Mahia still have a mathematical advantage.
