National Bank of Egypt (NBE) head coach Mohammed Kamal has lavished praise on Harambee Starlets striker Janet Moraa Bundi for her stellar performances which saw her emerge as the second-highest scorer in the Egyptian Women’s Premier League with 27 goals.

The former Vihiga Queens forward played a pivotal role in helping NBE secure a fifth-place finish with 44 points. Remarkably, she was just two goals short of clinching the Golden Boot.

The 27-year-old joined NBE last year on a one-year deal from Vihiga Queens, making history as the first Kenyan female footballer to play professionally in Egypt.

Reacting to her outstanding displays, Coach Kamal commended Moraa for her dedication and resilience on the pitch.

Janet is a very good player and very strong. I have seen many professional players come to the Bank before, and the choice was always Janet because she is very hardworking.

She plays with her whole heart. I know Kenya is currently building a very strong national team, and Janet is a great player. I want her to come and play in Egypt,” Kamal stated.

He added that Moraa has played a crucial role in NBE’s campaign and expressed his eagerness to welcome more Kenyan players to the team, acknowledging the country’s growing pool of talent.

When there are good players in Kenya, I will bring them in. When you look at Janet, she has really helped me and the team. Yes, there is great quality in her. I know when the Kenyan national team was in Tunis, she performed very well. Kenya has a strong team in both men’s and women’s football,” he added.

Janet Moraa can thrive in France and Spain Leagues

He also believes Janet’s talent deserves to be showcased in elite European leagues such as Spain and France.

Janet, in her current form, can play in France – she would thrive there. I also believe she can compete in the Spanish leagues. She’s very good with both her left and right foot, has great football intelligence, and was a very important number 10 in my team, a position that’s rare to find with such quality,” he reiterated.

With her contract at NBE at its end, Janet Moraa is yet to disclose her next move amid reported interest from overseas clubs.
