AFCON U20 2025
  • Host Egypt will open the AFCON U20 2025 on Sunday, April 27, against South Africa at Cairo International Stadium.
  • Kenya’s Rising Stars begin their debut campaign on Thursday, May 1, against Morocco at 22:00 EAT at the 30 June Stadium, Cairo.
  • The top two teams from each group plus the two best third-placed teams will advance to the quarter-finals.

The Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) has officially unveiled the dates, kick-off times, and venues for both the group stage and knockout rounds of the CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt 2025.

The 17th edition of Africa’s premier youth football showcase will take place from 27 April to 18 May 2025, featuring 13 national teams battling for continental glory across three Egyptian cities: Cairo, Ismailia, and Suez.

The tournament opener will feature hosts Egypt facing off against South Africa on Sunday, April 27, at 21:00 local time (22:00 EAT) at the Cairo International Stadium.

Preceding that clash, Sierra Leone will lock horns with Zambia at 18:00 (19:00 EAT) in Ismailia, both fixtures part of Group A.

Risng Stars historic debut in Group B

Making their much-anticipated debut, the Kenya U-20 national team, the Rising Stars, have been drawn into a highly competitive Group B alongside powerhouses Nigeria, Morocco, and Tunisia.

Under the guidance of coach Salim Babu, Kenya will launch their campaign on Thursday, 1st May, against Morocco at 22:00 EAT at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo.

Their second clash comes on Sunday, 4th May, against Tunisia at 19:00 EAT, followed by a decisive group stage encounter against Nigeria on Wednesday, 7th May, also at 19:00 EAT—all to be held at the same Cairo venue.

  • 4 May: Tunisia vs Kenya – 19:00 EAT (30 June Stadium, Cairo)
  • 7 May: Nigeria vs Kenya – 19:00 EAT (30 June Stadium, Cairo)

The Rising Stars departed directly for Cairo on Monday, 21st April 2025, to begin an intensive 10-day training camp in preparation for the continental tournament.

The AFCON U20 2025 will follow a three-group format. Group A will feature five teams, while Groups B and C will each consist of four nations.

The top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-placed sides, will advance to the quarter-finals.

The championship will culminate on 18 May 2025, with the top four semifinalists earning qualification for the prestigious FIFA U-20 World Cup Chile 2025, proudly carrying Africa’s legacy of youth football excellence onto the global stage.
