Tusker FC returned to the top of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) table on Saturday evening after beating Bidco United 1-0.
Tusker, who are one of the title contenders this season, scored their goal via Deogratious Ojok in the 77th minute of the hotly contested match that was played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos County.
Tusker’s first clear goal scoring chance of the game came in the 16th minute when Kaddu delivered a long throw into Bidco’s penalty box that made its way to his captain Charles Momanyi whose header missed the target.

As the game continued, Bidco United created several chances but they could not break down their opponents.
Erambo had another opportunity to put Tusker ahead in the 42nd minute but Bidco shot stopper Wycliffe Oduor produced a brilliant save to deny him. The save ensured the two clubs went to the half time break leveled.
At the beginning of the first half, Tusker FC head coach Charles Okere made two changes as he tried to get more control of the game. Okere brought in Denis Iguma and Erick Balecho in place of Teddy Dok and Ian Simiyu.
However, his decision did not yield any fruits as the Brewers continued to struggle to create goal scoring opportunities.
Okal, who has transformed Tusker FC in the few months that he has been in charge, made two more substitutions with 20 minutes remaining to the end of the regulation time.
Super substitute Ojok puts Tusker FC ahead
He replaced Jacob Onyango and Dennis Wanjala with Ojok and Luke Luvanda, with Ojok repaying his trust in him by putting Tusker FC 1-0 ahead in the 72nd minute.
The goal opened the game as Bidco United threw everything at their opponents as they tried to look for an equalizer.
However, despite immense pressure from Bidco United, Tusker FC were able to hold on to their slim lead and in the end collected all the three points.

Charles Okere reacts after Tusker’s win
Speaking after the match, Okere appreciated his players for giving their all to secure the three points.
“Today, first of all I say thank you to God for the three points. Again we had two weeks of preparations. We knew the opponent we were going to face was going to be tough, a team in the bottom of the log. So, I was to motivate the boys psychologically.
So, it was a tough game, Bidco gave us a run for our money but we thank the players who gave their all today, until the last minute,” he commented.
He added that their aim is to continue to improve, particularly in their attacking department in order to stand a chance of winning the FKFPL title.
Up next for Tusker FC is a tough encounter against a tricky Mara Sugar side slated for Sunday, April 6, 2025.
