FKF Cup: Gor Mahia seek last 16 spot

Seven matches are scheduled for Sunday 9 March as part of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup 2025 Cup.

Headlining the day’s action will be Gor Mahia who will be aiming for a spot in the Round of 16 when they take on Githurai All Stars at the Dandora Stadium at 4 PM.

The Premier League defending champions who are on a mission to secure their 10th Cup title (last won in 2021) will face a formidable challenge from the Sakaja Super Cup champions who have emerged as a strong force in the tournament.

Githurai All Stars advanced to this stage with a 4-2 win over Maroon All Stars in the round of 64, while K’Ogalo secured their place with a dominant 3-0 victory over KSG Ogopa.

Additionally, Sinisa Mihic’s side enters the match on a high following their recent league triumph where they defeated Kariobangi Sharks 3-1 in a rescheduled midweek fixture at Dandora.

Meanwhile, in Embu, there will be a double-header at Moi Stadium.

Top-tier side Bidco United will face Far East United FC at 1:00 PM, followed by Murang’a SEAL taking on Fortune Sacco at 4:00 PM.

John Njogu’s side will be hoping to restore their confidence after a poor run in the league, having failed to win any of their last eight matches, which has left them teetering on the brink of relegation.

However, Fortune Sacco, currently in 5th place in the National Super League, are no pushover despite a four-match winless streak.

This match is expected to be closely contested, as both teams will be eager to advance to the Round of 16 and regain their winning form.

As the action continues in Embu, Kakamega Homeboyz will host Samitsi FC at 4:00 PM at the Mumias Complex, with the 22-23 defending champions looking to secure the trophy this season.

Despite playing in Division One, Samitsi FC has been impressive and will provide stiff competition.

Francis Baraza’s side will be eager to get back to winning ways after their unbeaten league run was broken by Shabana, who handed them a 4-1 defeat at Gusii Stadium last weekend in the premier league.
