Kenya Premier League leaders KCB take on Tusker FC on Friday in arguably the biggest game in the Kenyan top flight.
  • Tusker were beaten 3-2 by KCB FC in the first leg encounter.
  • The Tusker versus KCB FC game will be played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
  • Four other fixtures are expected to be staged on Sunday.

A number of exciting Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) fixtures are scheduled to take place on Sunday.

The main attraction of the day is the top of the table clash pitting Tusker FC against their neighbors KCB FC.

Tusker, who sit second in the FKFPL standings with 36 points, will be aiming to collect all the three points and hopefully overtake leaders Police FC.

The Brewers go into the match that is planned to be played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on the back of a narrow 1-0 victory over Ulinzi Stars.

The goal was scored by Chrispine Erambo in the second half of the difficult match that was staged at the Dandora Stadium more than a week ago.

Charles Okere expresses optimism

Speaking ahead of the crucial tie against a strong KCB side that are ranked fourth in the FKFPL table at the moment, Tusker head coach Charles Okere backed his charges to cage the Lions.

“We face another tricky opponent again, that is KCB. We lost our first game away, now we are playing against them, at home.  So, this is a game that we have to be very cautious about. We know their strengths and weaknesses, so for us it is to only capitalize on their mistakes.

We have no room for mistakes because a win for us will give us the morale to continue working hard until the final whistle,” he offered.

Okere further divulged that they learnt several lessons in the first leg encounter between the two clubs where KCB secured a 3-2 victory.

According to the 43-year-old gaffer, the main lesson they picked in that clash that took place in October was to defend as a unit.

“In the first leg the lesson that we learnt is that we have to defend well as a team. Not as an individual because when the lines break, that is when the opponents penetrate and those are the areas that we are keen to work on.

So, we have learnt the hard way but in football there is always room for improvement,” explained Okere.

Okere explains Dennis Iguma’s impact

When asked about the impact that their new signing Dennis Iguma is expected to have on the team, Okere stated that the Uganda international will bring more experience.

“Iguma has been part of us during the preseason. So, nothing new as such. It is only that he delayed coming into the team.

We saw him in the first training session. Very sharp, intelligent, combative, creative player. We want him to come and add that value to our team, something that the boys in our team have been doing also. He has just come at the right time to boost the team towards achieving our season’s targets,” ended the one-time Vihiga Queens interim coach.

Ingwe on a mission to stop Nairobi City Stars

In other matches that will be on offer this Sunday, AFC Leopards will be looking to return to winning ways when they visit a struggling Nairobi City Stars side while Kenya Police FC and Murang’a Seal visit Sofapaka FC and Bandari FC respectively.

Ingwe, who currently occupy the sixth position in the log with 26 points, settled for a 1-1 draw with Murang’a Seals in their most recent match, an outcome that disappointed most of the supporters.

On the other hand, Nairobi City Stars, who are in relegation battle at this stage of the season, prepare for the game that will go down in Machakos on the back of a 1-0 defeat that came in the hands of Bandari FC.
