Some of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) clubs including Tusker FC made signings on Friday, January 31 as the mid-season transfer window officially opened.

Tusker confirmed the acquisition of Dennis Iguma from Uganda Premier League side Police FC while Ulinzi Stars secured the signature of three new players.

Tusker, who occupy the second spot in the Kenyan top flight league, described Iguma as an experienced player who will make their squad better.

“Tusker FC is excited to announce the signing of Ugandan midfielder Dennis Iguma from Kampala’s Police FC on a one-year deal. Iguma, 31, brings a wealth of experience from both Uganda’s Premier League and the national team.

Renowned for his tenacity in midfield, the versatile player excels at both breaking up opposition attacks and controlling the pace of the game. His leadership and defensive acumen are expected to bring added stability and strength to Tusker’s midfield,” read part of the statement from the Brewers.

The Ruaraka based club further added that Iguma has already met his new teammates as the management works to complete the ratification process.

Iguma has earned more than 50 international caps for the Uganda national team popularly known as The Cranes.

Meanwhile, Tusker FC head coach Charles Okere has stated that Iguma will guide the less experienced players in the team.

“He’s a player we’re familiar with, having trained with him during our time in Uganda. With his wealth of experience, he will provide much-needed depth to our young squad. His leadership qualities are exceptional and we are confident he will be a great asset to the team,” offered Okere.

Ulinzi Stars welcome new faces

Elsewhere, Ulinzi Stars made three signings on Friday and welcomed back their captain Brian Birgen back to the squad.

The three new players include Oscar Wamalwa, Meshack Karani and Abdalla Kidato. Kidato and Wamalwa have been signed from Vickers FC.

On the other hand, Karani who operates as a Striker, has arrived from fellow FKFPL side Mara Sugar for an undisclosed fee.

This is not expected to the final signings for these clubs, especially Tusker FC, who are reportedly to be on the verge of losing their star striker Ryan Ogam to USM Alger.
