Ken Odhiambo

Bandari FC head coach Ken Odhiambo has stated that the club will need to return to the transfer market to seek players who will strengthen their squad after their recent setback.

Bandari were edged 3-0 by Police FC in their rescheduled match on Wednesday afternoon at the Kenyatta Stadium, leaving them winless in seven consecutive matches.

Marvin Nabwire, Clinton Kinanga, and Jesse Were helped Police secure the three points, taking them to the top of the league table.

The coastal-based side’s last win was on November 30, 2024, when they narrowly defeated Nairobi City Stars 1-0.

At the start of the season, Bandari were in the top-four race, but they now sit in eighth place with 23 points from five wins, eight draws, and four losses.

Odhiambo stated that the three goals they conceded were due to avoidable mistakes, despite him having addressed the issue of conceding early goals.

“All the goals we conceded today were silly,” Odhiambo told Azam TV after the match. “I don’t think there was any goal where you could say we deserved to concede. Take the first goal, for example—our player Izzadin had a chance to give us the lead, but the keeper quickly countered, and Police scored in a harmless situation.”

He also noted that his players are not capitalizing on chances as they should, which is something he plans to address.

“I think this is something we will work on—taking chances when they come. Our opponents converted their chances, but we had clear opportunities and couldn’t make the most of them,” he added.

Odhiambo, emphasizedd that for the team to improve, they need to stop underestimating their competition.

“As Bandari FC, we need to realize that everyone is serious in this league. No one is joking, so if we want to compete, we have to be serious about our work,” he said.

Regarding squad reinforcement, Odhiambo, who took over as head coach this season, stated that fresh talent is needed to help turn things around.

“Given the current situation, I will have to go into the market. We’ve tried everything, but things aren’t going our way, so we need to strengthen the squad,” he reiterated.

“Yes, we are playing well, but at the end of the day, people want results.”

Bandari will host Nairobi City Stars on Sunday, January 26.
