Harambee Stars interim coach Francis Kimanzi has named his final 24-man squad that will travel to Zanzibar for the Mapinduzi Cup scheduled from 3-13 January 2025.

The tournament will feature six teams: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Burundi and Burkina Faso with the Harambee Stars set to face Burundi in their first match on Sunday 5 January before taking on Zanzibar on Tuesday 7 January.

The 24 players were selected from the provisional 40-man squad that had been training at the M-Pesa Foundation Grounds in Thika.

The squad includes a mix of young, experienced and seasoned players from local clubs in the Kenyan Premier League.

Experienced players in Kimanzi’s squad include Alphonce Omija and Austine Odhiambo of Gor Mahia, as well as defender Sylvester Owino, goalkeepers Farouk Shikalo and Bryne Odhiambo.

Midfielder Kelly Madada of AFC Leopards, who has earned a lot of raving reviews in the first leg of the Premier League, has also made in the squad.

Madada is joined by current Premier League top scorer Ryan Ogam from Tusker whose impressive first season in the top tier has earned him a spot in the national team.

Nairobi City Stars’ Mohammed Ali Bajaber is another notable inclusion following eye-catching displays.

Tusker FC defender Charles Momanyi, KCB forward Francis Kahiro, Shabana FC’s Brian Michira, AFC Leopards players Ovella Ochieng and Sydney Lokale and Sofapaka’s Baron Ochieng are some of the players who were omitted from the squad.
