Hussein Mohammed, the CEO of Extreme Sports and Vice Chairman of the Murang’a SEAL, has been declared the new President of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) for the next four years. He emerged victorious in a rerun, securing 67 votes.

However, the election took a surprising turn in the first round, as Hussein failed to reach the required 50+1% threshold, which prompted the rerun. Despite this, his closest contenders, Doris Petra and Barry Otieno, conceded defeat even before the second round was concluded.

According to the FKF Electoral Board, a rerun was necessary to ensure the winner achieved the mandated threshold.

In the first round, Hussein garnered the highest number of votes (42), while Doris Petra trailed with 31 votes. Barry Otieno secured 10 votes, making him one of the top three candidates. Cleophas Shimanyula and Twaha Mbarak received 4 votes each, Sammy Owino Kempes earned 2 votes, and Tom Alila managed 1 vote.

Hussein will be deputized by Macdonald Mariga.

The voting body consisted of 48 members representing the 47 counties, though Nyamira and Homa Bay counties were excluded.
