Bryan Michira, who scored two great goals in their midweek win against AFC Leopards, had a clear chance to draw the Glamour Boys level but he failed to make use of it.
Glen Otunga later dampened the spirits of Shabana players in the 33rd minute when he fired a powerful shot which ensured the hosts went to the break with a 2-0 lead.
Red Card for Kakamega Homeboyz’ ace Gospel Otieno
In the second half, Shabana FC head coach Peter Okidi made a couple of chances in an attempt to get control of the match. He replaced Dimpol Omamo and Dennis Okoth with Shem Odinga and Justine Omwando respectively.
The introduction of the duo improved Shabana’s overall game, who piled more pressure on their opponents.
The constant pressure made Kakamega Homeboyz player Gospel Otieno to commit a second foul that resulted in the centre referee sending him for an early shower.
Despite being reduced to 10 men, Kakamega Homeboyz managed to hold on to their lead until the end, and in the process collected the three points that were on offer. The well-deserved win helped them move out of the relegation zone
Ryan Ogam’s First Hat-trick of the Season
Elsewhere, Tusker FC secured a 3-1 win over Murang’a Seal in a scintillating encounter that was played at the Sportpesa Arena.

All of Tusker’s goals came courtesy of the on form Ryan Ogam, who scored a quick brace in the first half before completing his hat-trick in the closing stages of the game. On the other hand, Humphrey Obina scored Murang’a Seal’s goal in the 74th minute.
The three goals helped the highly rated Ogam to climb to the top of the golden boot race with 10 goals.
