Federation Kenya Football Premier League defending champions Gor Mahia will be seeking their fourth win of the season this weekend as they travel to Homa Bay to take on second-placed Mara Sugar on Saturday afternoon at the Raila Odinga Stadium.
The K’Ogalo returned to their winning ways in the midweek, beating Kakamega Homeboyz 2-0 on Wednesday to keep their hopes of defending the championship alive.
The match saw Boniface Omondi give K’Ogalo the lead at Kenyatta Stadium before Bryson Wangai netted the second goal, securing three points that broke their four-match winless streak.

In addition, this will be Zedekiah Otieno’s second assignment as Gor Mahia’s interim coach, having taken over from Leo Neiva, who parted ways with the club last month.
With three games in hand giving them a good advantage to move to the top of the table, Gor Mahia are currently in 9th place with eleven points, having recorded three wins, two draws, and two losses, five points behind Mara Sugar, who have sixteen points.

Therefore, they will be seeking to secure three points against the Millers and propel themselves to the top of the table.

On the other hand, George Midenyo’s side will be looking to overturn their 2-1 defeat to Tusker last Wednesday, as they have not won any of their last three matches.
However, despite dropping points against Tusker, Sofapaka, and AFC Leopards, Mara Sugar, since their promotion to the top-tier league, have been in dominant form.

Out of their 10 matches played this season, Middenyo’s side has won four, drawn four, and lost two. Therefore, a win against K’Ogalo will keep them in contention for the top of the log.

The last time these two teams met was in 2021 during the Kenya Cup, formerly known as the Shield Cup, where Gor Mahia won 2-1.
The match is set to kick off at 2:00 PM Kenyan time.

Elsewhere, after a 1-1 draw against Police FC on Tuesday, KCB will also be in action on Saturday afternoon as they look to continue leading the league when they take on Bidco United at SportPesa Arena.

Meanwhile, Posta Rangers and Talanta FC, both of whom secured their second win of the season in midweek, will square off at Machakos Stadium in the afternoon. In another match, Nairobi City Stars will host Bandari FC at the same venue.
